The Palamutes can fight monsters and be used as mounts, while Palicos are support-type companions, who can use healing items and distract the enemy. Palicos are still a part of the game, which means players have a choice regarding their companions. You can also use some items while riding on a Palamute, so you won’t hold back the group while doing some pre-battle buffs. Your stamina doesn’t decrease while riding a Palamute, so you can easily race across the battlefield without needing to chug Dash Juice, as was often the case in the older games. Players can ride a Palamute into battle and use them to quickly scale cliffs. Monster Hunter Rise is going in a new direction, as it will be adding canine mounts to the series, called Palamutes. The Monster Hunter series has prominently featured cats throughout its run, with the Felyne Palicos acting as staunch companions to the hunters. The developers promised to reveal more details about this element of the game in the future. Tetranadon will fight any Azuros it comes across, in what appears to be an expanded version of the mechanic from the earlier games where monsters would fight each other.
